Median Remodeler Revenue Surges 24% in Latest Census - remodeler revenue
The majority (52%) reported annual revenues between $1 million and $4.9 million, while 23% earned less than $500,000.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has released its latest member census, revealing a 24% increase in median annual revenue for residential remodelers, from $1.7 million to $2.1 million.

Residential remodelers, who make up 21% of NAHB members, are typically small firms with a median of five employees. The majority (52%) reported annual revenues between $1 million and $4.9 million, while 23% earned less than $500,000. Additionally, 13% reported revenues between $500,000 and $999,999. Smaller segments of remodelers reported higher revenue brackets: 9% between $5 million and $9.9 million; 2% between $10 million and $14.9 million; and 1% at $15 million or more. Fewer than 0.5% reported zero business activity in 2025.

The census also highlights the scale of remodeling projects. 37% of members completed 1 to 5 jobs costing $10,000 or more in 2025, with an overall average of 19 jobs per member. The median number of these larger projects increased from six in 2024 to eight in 2025. Further breakdown shows 20% completed 6 to 10 jobs, 21% completed 11 to 25 jobs, 12% completed 26 to 99 jobs, and 4% completed 100 or more jobs in this price range.

For the 21% of members specializing primarily in residential remodeling, the numbers are even higher. These firms completed an average of 31 jobs in the $10,000 or higher range, with a median of 12 jobs. These figures are not significantly different from the ones reported in previous years, dating back to 2022, when NAHB first included the remodeling jobs question in its member census.

The census, released on September 28, reflects NAHB membership through the end of 2025.
