About Us

Rebel Farmer was born in 2016 after a failed crop season left our founder, a former teacher turned homesteader, staring at a field of wilted tomatoes and a pile of chemical-laden soil. The corporate ag advice that had been pushed on them—synthetic fertilizers, monocropping, and “efficiency” at any cost—hadn’t just failed; it had erased years of soil health. That moment became a rallying cry: What if farming could be both rebellious and regenerative? From that dirt-stained epiphany, we built a resource for growers who refuse to trade long-term land health for short-term yields.

We’re not here to sell you miracle seeds or miracle solutions. Our small team—comprised of a ex-mechanic who builds solar-powered irrigation systems, a permaculture designer who once ran a chicken coop in a tornado, and a former journalist who’s interviewed more than 50 off-grid farmers—writes for people who don’t trust Big Ag and don’t want to. Every article, tool, and tutorial on this site is rooted in real-world experiments: composting with coffee grounds in urban backyards, building rainwater catchments with scrap metal, or fermenting your own soil inoculants. We reject fluff. We reject jargon. We reject anything that doesn’t help you grow food, fix your own tools, and keep your land thriving for your kids.

What makes Rebel Farmer different? We’re the only resource that bridges the gap between radical sustainability and practicality. You’ll find no corporate partnerships, no sponsored “how-to” guides, and no glossy photos of chefs plating heirloom tomatoes. Instead, you’ll get raw, unfiltered advice from people who’ve bled through every step of the process. Our forums are filled with readers swapping DIY pest control recipes and troubleshooting compost piles in -10°F winters. We’re not just a website—we’re a loose-knit rebellion against the idea that farming has to be expensive, complicated, or compromised. If you’re here, you’re already part of the crew. Now let’s get dirty.
