The program emphasizes welding principle and sensible utility necessary for profitable employment. Program graduates obtain a Welding and Joining Technology credential, have the skills of a welding and joining technician, and are prepared to take qualification exams. In 1999, Georgia Tech began offering local degree Gadgets programs to engineering students in Southeast Georgia, and in 2003 established a physical campus in Savannah, Georgia. Until 2013, Georgia Tech Savannah provided undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering along side Georgia Southern University, South Georgia College, Armstrong Atlantic State University, and Savannah State University.
