Black girls make up 13% of the country’s population however disproportionately symbolize 44% of ladies in jail, and 30% of the women’s prison population. Opposed to incarcerated Black men, Black women coming into the prison system are incessantly left unsupported and isolated. The new line, that includes a poem from beforehand incarcerated Black literary Nissi Berry, goals to support girls in a means the system has not. Profits from each bag sold go directly to the movement to finish the incarceration of Black girls and put money back into the pockets of previously incarcerated Black feminine artists.
